Rochester, New York was a site of 2005 U.S. Deaf Golf Championships
Rochester, New York – Greater Rochester Deaf Golf Association (GRDGA) hosted
the US Deaf Golf Championships (USDGC) tournament during the week of July 18-22, 2005. The
USDGC was sponsored by United States Deaf Golf Foundation. The ultimate goal for the Championships is to
recognize and celebrate excellence in the game of golf in the deaf community and the hard of hearing
population in America.
The USDGC tournament was held at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, New York. The course is an 18 Hole Championship course designed by world- renowned architect Robin Nelson. It has been selected as #5 “Best New Upscale Public Course” in America. Nelson compares the Ravenwood course to that of Shinnecock Hills Country Club on Long Island, site of the 1995 and 2004 US Opens. The Ravenwood Golf Club was the site of 2004 U.S. Open Qualifier and 2003 New York State Amateur Championship.
